Are you passionate about working with a collaborative group of dedicated technical professionals to apply systems engineering solutions to challenging problems?

 

Do you want to contribute to work that is crucial to maintaining our national security and strength?

 

We are seeking an intern with an interest in aerospace, systems, or other engineering discipline to leverage their skills on multidisciplinary teams working on a variety of technological innovations in defense and national security applications. You will be joining our diverse team of engineers, scientists, and analysts committed to evaluating the nation’s strategic space systems throughout their lifecycle. As a member of our team you will…

  • Work closely with other engineers to provide engineering support that helps the program move through the main phases of the systems engineering life cycle
  • Support the development of models and analyses for space segment programs
  • Support the development of systems engineering processes that are used throughout the systems engineering life cycle
  • Create reports describing the results of analyses to be brief to the senior APL leadership

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Are pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering or other technical field
  • Have a strong desire to learn and explore new opportunities within national security space
  • Possess strong analytical, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret w/SCI level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you… 

  • Have experience or knowledge of the systems engineering life cycle (from concept to system deployment)
  • Have experience or knowledge with analysis tools (STK, MATLAB, AFSIM).
  • Have experience with Space Systems Engineering, Model Based Systems Engineering, and Test Engineering
  • Have experience or knowledge of project and configuration management tools (such as GitLab, JIRA, Confluence)

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

$22.60 Hourly

Maximum Rate

$47.95 Hourly
